Foster Parent Ongoing Training
The online Priceless Parenting classes are approved by the Washington State Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) for
the ongoing foster parent training requirement. Completing one course will result in 8 hours in Child Guidance.
These 8 hours can be used as part of the 36 hours of ongoing training required during each three year licensing period.
Can I use this training even though I am a foster parent outside of Washington State?
Please contact your State Foster Parent Association to determine if they will give you credit for this course. The National Foster Parent Association
has contact information for most
state’s Foster Parent Associations.
What steps do I need to follow to get my 8 hours in Child Guidance?
- Register for one of the parenting classes. If your children are in multiple categories, we recommend taking the class for the oldest child's age.
- Complete all the lessons. Apply the homework to parenting your foster children.
- Complete a training evaluation.
- Request a certificate of completion after finishing the course.
