About Priceless Parenting

Company Background

Priceless Parenting was founded on Kathy’s passion for sharing positive parenting ideas – ideas that have the power to transform families. She realized these ideas work extremely well when she tried them out with her own children. After teaching them for many years to other parents, she knew those families reported the same great results. Priceless Parenting is dedicated to sharing these ideas through online parenting classes, presentations, books and coaching.

When children misbehave, it is natural for parents to react with anger. However, responding by yelling, hitting or threatening escalates the situation and makes it worse. When parents have the skills to stay calm and reasonable, children have more opportunities to think about their mistakes and learn from them. By treating their children with respect, parents create stronger, more loving relationships.

Parents face a more complicated set of challenges today than ever before:
  • Children need to be able to make wise, independent decisions sooner than ever before.
  • Parents are balancing demanding work obligations and family obligations.
  • Extended family support is often far away.
Priceless Parenting teaches parents proven techniques for effectively responding to misbehavior while guiding children to develop important character traits like integrity, honesty and compassion.

Kathy Slattengren, Owner

Internationally recognized parenting educator Kathy Slattengren founded Priceless Parenting in 2007. She is dedicated to teaching parents critical skills needed for effectively responding to their children’s behavior while building warm, loving relationships.

While raising her own two children, she learned many wonderful parenting techniques from classes, seminars and books. Through studying research, she discovered a universal body of knowledge about how effective parents do their job.

Her Masters of Education degree from the University of Washington combined with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Computer Science from the University of Minnesota has enabled her to pull together parenting research into classes that are easy to understand and apply.
